Woody Harrelson Calls HAN SOLO Spinoff "One of the Funnier Star Wars Movies"
Woody Harrelson, who portrays Han Solo’s mentor Beckett in Lucasfilm’s Han Solo spinoff movie, is sharing new details about the movie, more specifically the movie's tone. He says that we should expect this movie to be funnier than other Star Wars movies in the franchise.
Han Solo has long been one of the biggest personalities in the Star Wars universe thanks to his dry wit, so it really isn't too surprising that the standalone film about his younger years would be funny.
In an interview with ET, Harrelson gives high marks to the actor following Harrison Ford’s footsteps, revealing how Alden Ehrenreich could make Han Solo stand out when it’s compared to the movies that have come before:
“He’s a great actor and a great guy, [with a] great sense of humor. I think a lot of humor comes through what he’s doing. I think it could be one of the funnier Star Wars movies.”
The Han Solo movie is written by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon. Kasdan has a lot of experience with the Star Wars series, having penned The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens. All three of those struck a nice balance between comedy and drama, so it’s safe to assume Han Solo will be on par with all three of those films.
