WORLD OF WARCRAFT: WRATH OF THE LICH KING - A PANDEMIC SYSTEM BOARD GAME is Officially Announced by Z-Man Games
Recently, Z-Man Games teased a World of Warcraft version of the hit board game Pandemic and now we have the official reveal. Sadly, the name was not shortened, but remains World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – A Pandemic System Board Game.
This collaborative board game has 1-5 players working together to save Azeroth as iconic heroes as they fend off the fallen Prince Arthas and the Scourge. While many fans of the Pandemic system will already know the bulk of how to play the game, this new entry features a new mechanic called Quests “that sees players adventuring across Northrend to battle monstrous entities, destroy evil relics, and more.” Hero Cards are also available to increase attack power, provide extra movement, and more. Plus, there are detailed miniatures that fans are going to love.
In the Wrath of the Lich King board game, players control one of Azeroth’s heroes and fight their way through the Scourge to reach the throne of fallen Prince Arthas, now feared throughout Azeroth as the terrifying Lich King. Adventure across the frozen continent of Northrend, take on quests, battle monstrous entities, and more to retake Azeroth from the Lich King.
Talking about the game, Justin Kemppainen of Z-Man Games said:
Wrath of the Lich King is our first time taking the Pandemic game system into beloved fictional settings like Azeroth. It literally opens up a whole new world of possibility. There’s no greater threat to Azeroth than the Scourge. The game really illustrates that by mixing the thrilling co-operative gameplay Pandemic fans know and love with World of Warcraft. We’re confident new and existing players of both franchises will love it!
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King - A Pandemic System Board Game will launch later this year with pre-orders now open through Blizzard and Z-Man Games for $59.99.
