Would You Spend 30 Hours in a Coffin For a Cash Prize?

Humor Halloween by Joey Paur

When I was a kid I remember watching a movie about about a woman who escapes from prison by hiding in a coffin with a dead body already in it. She was then buried alive. I can’t remember what the movie was, I haven’t seen it since. But, this seriously gave me a fear of being buried alive in a coffin. Spending time in a coffin is a terrifying thought for me, let alone spending 30 hours in one!

Six Flags St. Louis recently announced that they will be hosting the 30-Hour Coffin Challenge. The event is being put on to celebrate the 30th year of Fright Fest, Six Flags' Halloween-themed "haunted attraction" event.

There’s no way in hell I would ever do this! They will choose six contestants that they call "coffin dwellers" to spend 30 hours in "slightly used" 2-by-7 foot coffins from 1pm. October 13th until 7pm October 14th at the park.

So what’s the prize? Two 2019 Gold Season Passes, a Fright Fest Price Package which includes two VIP Haunted House passes, a ticket for two to ride the Freak Train for Freaks Unleashed, the coffin itself, and $300 cash.

Don’t worry, they let you go to the bathroom, but only during designated bathroom breaks which last only six minutes every hour. Participants will also be provided food and water as well as can have a friend hang out with the during the park's Fright Fest operating hours however. But, once the park closes they’re on their own.

You also have to bring your own pillows and blankets and you can bring your phone that the park will provide chargers for. So, it may not be that bad for anyone that doesn’t have a fear of being in a coffin.

If this is something that you’re interested in trying you can fill out the registration form here. You have to submit it before midnight on October 3rd for their chance to be one of the lucky six coffin dwellers.

So would you do this?
