Would You Want to See Darren Aronofsky Direct a SUPERMAN Movie? He Say's He's Interested
With Darren Aronofsky making the press rounds for his latest film mother! a lot of people have been asking him about his attempt to make a Batman movie. He recently compared his pitch for that film to The Joker origin film currently in development and even said that he wanted Joaquin Pheonix to play Batman. It would have been a very different take on the character.
That movie will never happen but during a recent interview with CinePop, the director revealed that he is still keen on making a superhero movie. When asked if he had any interest in "presenting a unique vision" of the superhero genre, he said:
"I mean, you know, Superman would always be interesting. But they’re already deep into reinventing him, so that’s not going to happen for a long time."
The director goes on to acknowledge that it would be hard for him to do anything radically different with the character because the studio wants to hit the widest audience possible. I seriously doubt Aronofsky will ever get a chance to make a comic book film, unless he was given complete creative freedom to do whatever the hell he wants.
I'd actually be curious to see what Aronofsky would do with a Superman movie. He just makes such whacked out films that there's no doubt it would be interesting. I would have liked to see his Batman. I wonder what kind of ideas he has for a Superman film.
