Writers Hired for G.I. JOE 3 and ENCHANTED 2

Paramount Pictures is moving forward with their plans for a third G.I. Joe movie, and they've hired Jonathan Lemkin to write the script. According to Variety, the story will focus on Dwayne Johnson's character, Roadblock, who was introduced in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Lemkin has previously worked on films such as Shooter with Mark Wahlberg, Devil's Advocate with Keanu Reeves, and Lethal Weapon 4. The studio is hoping to get the sequel into production in 2015 for a 2016 release. As big of a fan I am of the G.I. Joe franchise, the live-action movies that have been made sure have been a big letdown. This is one franchise I wouldn't mind seeing rebooted.

In other news, Disney has decided to dust off their plans for an Enchanted sequel and move it into development. The studio has hired J. David Stem and David N. Weiss to take on the duties of writing the screenplay. They are best known for their work on The Smurfs movie and Shrek 2. I enjoyed the first one, and it will be interesting to see what they bring to the sequel. Enchanted was released in 2007 with Amy Adams in the lead role. The movie also starred Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon. There's no information on who from the first film will return if any. Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) is set to direct the sequel.
