X-MEN ’97 Season 3 Footage Reveals Deadpool, She-Hulk, More Mutants, and a Major Marvel Wedding

Marvel is bringing some familiar faces into X-Men ’97 Season 3, and it looks like two fan-favorite mutants are finally getting married! New footage revealed at New York Comic Con offered fans a first look at what's coming, including appearances from Deadpool, She-Hulk, and Namor, the return of the Brotherhood of Mutants, and a major moment involving Gambit and Rogue.

While Marvel Studios has had its share of ups and downs with the MCU, X-Men ’97 has consistently delivered some of the best Marvel entertainment in years. The animated revival earned an impressive 99% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season, followed by a 97% score for Season 2. With numbers like those, Marvel has a lot to live up to with its next chapter.

Thankfully, the first footage from Season 3 suggests the creative team has plenty of exciting things planned. One of the biggest reveals involves the Brotherhood of Mutants, which is returning with a new leader following Magneto's death in Season 2.

Mystique will take command of the group, with Blob, Pyro, Toad, Avalanche, and Surge confirmed to be part of the lineup.

It'll be interesting to see what Mystique has planned for the Brotherhood and how her leadership changes the group's relationship with the X-Men.

There could also be more mutants joining the roster, especially since X-Men ’97 supervising producer Jake Castorena previously teased that fans should expect some obscure Marvel characters to make appearances.

The footage also confirmed that Namor, Deadpool, and She-Hulk will appear in Season 3, with the latter two reportedly showing up for Gambit and Rogue's wedding.

Yes, Marvel is finally giving Gambit and Rogue their big wedding moment! That's a pretty major development for the couple, especially considering everything they've been through.

Their complicated romance has been one of the show's strongest emotional storylines, and seeing them potentially tie the knot should make longtime X-Men fans happy.

Of course, anyone familiar with X-Men comics knows that mutant weddings rarely go according to plan. There's usually a villain, an unexpected disaster, or some other superhero insanity waiting to ruin the celebration. It'll be fun to see whether Gambit and Rogue actually get to enjoy their big day.

There's also an interesting question surrounding Deadpool and She-Hulk's appearances. X-Men ’97 has previously used Morph to sneak recognizable Marvel characters into the series, so there's always the possibility that one of these cameos isn't what it appears to be.

However, with both characters appearing at the wedding, and Morph presumably attending as well, there's a good chance we're getting the real Deadpool and She-Hulk this time.

That would be a pretty awesome addition to the series, particularly with Deadpool's unpredictable personality potentially adding some comedy to the festivities.

Marvel Television executive Brad Winderbaum also shared his excitement about the upcoming season during the NYCC panel, suggesting that some particularly emotional episodes are on the way.

“We’re hard at work on the third season, and it’s incredible. I mean, I’m actually getting choked up thinking about one of the episodes right now.”

That's an encouraging tease considering how effectively the first two seasons balanced superhero action with some genuinely heartbreaking character moments.

The good news is that Marvel isn't planning to wrap things up anytime soon. X-Men ’97 Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in 2027, and development on Season 4 is already underway.

Between Mystique taking control of the Brotherhood, the arrival of more Marvel characters, and Gambit and Rogue potentially walking down the aisle, Season 3 is shaping up to be another great chapter in the animated series.

I'm curious to see how the wedding plays out and whether Marvel actually lets these two mutants have a happy ending without turning their special day into a battlefield.
