X-MEN Actress Famke Janssen Says of Being Passed Over for AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY - "I Tend to Look Forward"
X-Men actress Famke Janssen was one of the few from the original cast who was overlooked when Marvel brought many of the cast over for the upcoming ensemble pic Avengers: Doomsday.
Janssen recently spoke out for the first time about not being asked to return to the role, and some fans thought that maybe the studio would reach out after she made a public statement.
So when she was asked again if she’d heard any movement in the way of possible casting on Kristian Harloff's YouTube channel, or even if she’d be interested, she confirmed that she’s content to move forward instead of looking back. She also talked about her current career situation, stating:
"You know, I don't tend to look back at anything I've done. I tend to look forward. And the position that I'm in right now, [with] this incredible learning curve that I went through on [Netflix's] Amsterdam Empire by being executive producer and costume designer on my clothes, and doing a music video in which I sign and dance...
“All of these added elements, it's hard for me now to just look back and worry, or think about a part where I get a few lines. It just doesn't seem that interesting to me. I'm in a different place, and I've earned my way into this moment, and I'm running with it, because this is 80 films under my belt, and I've paid my dues.
“And so, now, to have a seat at the table and go, 'I'm an executive producer, I have a say in this. I think this needs to change, and I think there needs to be more diversity here, and I think this needs to be strengthened in the script,' or whatever it is. It's amazing!"
Janssen hasn’t been sitting around hoping for a call. She is satisfied with her career, and isn’t resting on her laurels to get rehired. That’s pretty commendable.
“I still don’t think it’s impossible that she appear in either Doomsday or Secret Wars, but either way, the franchise is good, and so is Janssen.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on December 17, 2027.
