X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Re-Shot Its Entire Third Act to Avoid Looking Like Another Superhero Movie
In a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Sophie Turner, and Jessica Chastain were interviewed about the upcoming film X-Men: Dark Phoenix and the re-shoots that have taken place for the film.
McAvoy mentions in the interview that the entire third act of the film was re-shot due to the final scenes resembling the final act of another super-hero movie “that came out…mmm… a while ago” that cannot be named, although the interviewer did try to figure out what it was.
The original scenes shot took place in space, and a battle ensued. The battle has now been moved to a train, and all four actors agree that it is a much better ending and the movie is improved by the changes. But if the scenes were originally in space, and a film has come out since then that has dealt with battles in the outer realms of the universe, one can’t help but wonder if they didn’t want to look like they were ripping off Captain Marvel? Although Captain Marvel did also have a fight scene on a train, but… whatever. Turner commented that the third act of the movie is the best, so they must have done something right.
What do you think the original ending was that they had to change? Would you like them to release the original ending in the special features when the movie is released on DVD and Blu-ray? Because an alternate ending would be cool.
Dark Phoenix will hit theaters next week, on June 6th. Tickets are available now.
