X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Director Matthew Vaughn Shares Who He Thinks Should Play Wolverine for Marvel
With the X-Men being introduced into the MCU at some point in the future, fans are curious about who will be cast as some of the key characters. Wolverine, especially, is a mutant that a lot of fans are curious about.
Hugh Jackman played Wolverine for a long time, and he was great in the role. So, whoever comes in next has some big shoes to fill. But, when the character is recast, I hope that the casting is closer to the comic book version of the character than Jackman was. In the comics Wolverine stands at 5'3" and weighs in at 300 lbs, mostly due to his Adamantium skeleton.
X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn weighed in on this matter and who he thinks should take on the role. He said:
"Well, he's got older now, but I would say Tom Hardy would have...been awesome. I think Taron [Egerton] could do it in his sleep. Aaron Taylor-Johnson could do it as well. I mean, I think Aaron or Taron would be my first two choices could do it really well."
While I like both actors, I don’t see either one in the role. If I had to choose one of the two, though, Taron, because he’s got more of the look. However, my top choice would be Tom Hardy, regardless of his age and height, he has the right build. But, he’s Venom, so that most likely won’t happen.
Who knows, when the time comes, maybe the studio will hire an unknown that will fit the role perfectly. Remember, Jackman was unknown when he was cast, so anything is possible.
Who would you like to see play Wolverine in the MCU?
