X-MEN: FIRST CLASS Director Matthew Vaughn Wants To Direct FANTASTIC FOUR For Marvel Studios
Matthew Vaughn has made quite the directing career with adapting comic books for the big screen. He’s developed films such as Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, and Kingsman. But, there’s another Marvel project that he’d like to take on and that project is Fantastic Four.
While recently talking to CB at NYCC, the filmmaker says that he would love to direct Fantastic Four for Marvel:
"Yeah I've always loved the idea of doing Fantastic Four as it was originally written. I mean it's one of my favorite comics and I actually think that Fantastic Four, as a nice piece of IP, is in theory as big as Spider-Man. I think those, the values of Fantastic Four and Spider-Man, I think those are the reason, if you're a kid, you can imagine being a part of the Fantastic Four family and you can imagine being Peter Parker. So yeah, I think Fan-Four would be the one that would excite me the most."
Marvel revealed that Fantastic Four would be coming at some point in Phase 4, but no details have been revealed. I assume that they already have a director in place for the film that is developing it, but if not, I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Vaughn take it on. I’ve enjoyed the movies that he’s made and I think he would do some pretty awesome stuff with the characters in this property. I really like how he handled First Class and I think the X-Men films that followed would have been great if Bryan Singer didn’t come back to take over.
The filmmaker is a solid storyteller that knows how to balance drama, action, fun, and dark themes. But, even if he doesn’t end up directing the film, I trust that Marvel Studios will choose the right person for the job.
Would you like to see Vaughn direct the next Fantastic Four movie?
