X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and Other STAR WARS Vehicles Get Mashed Together in New Comic
An interesting new piece of art was just released for the latest issue of the Star Wars comic Poe Dameron #11 teasing issue #12. What makes it so interesting is the fact that Poe Dameron and C-3PO are being chased down by a bunch of crazy-looking ships.
As you can see, the ships are mashups of other vehicles from the Star Wars Universe. The main one features the cockpit pod of a TIE Fighter with three X-Wing wings welded around it. Off to the side, there's also an AT-ST cockpit with wings added to each side! These things look insane!
I assume this is a fleet of space pirates that build their ships out of whatever they find laying around. It's such a cool idea to repurpose these ships like this.
This isn't the first time someone has thought of this idea. The Extended Universe novels like the X-Wing series, introduced the concept of "Uglies" which are described as, "any type of starfighter that had been cobbled together out of parts that had been salvaged from varying origins, including crashed starfighters and ex-military surplus."
You can check out the Z’ceptor, which is part TIE Interceptor, part Z-95 Headhunter. This comes from Dark Horse’s X-Wing: Rogue Squadron Handbook.
