Xbox Unveils New Xbox Wireless Headset
Xbox recently revealed a new wireless headset for gamers to use. The Xbox Wireless Headset (XWH) aims to give you the best audio and chat performance available promising “you can play loud and clear through low latency, lossless audio for exceptional sound quality.” To improve realism and precision, the XWH is compatible with Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS Headphone: X, so you can pick your favorite. Project architect and lead, Erik Garcia said:
We spent a lot of time in the audio testing chambers trying to characterize and understand how the headset reproduces audio in different room environments. It goes in your living room, game room, and dorm room and we want it to sound the best for all types of audio. In the same way, the team studied gameplay to ensure great sounding chat with a sensitive mic to prevent background noise.
For the microphone, the team used a dual beamforming mic to focus on speech instead of background sounds. It also features voice isolation tuning and an auto mute feature to help keep your communications clear. There’s also a manual mute switch for when you need to ensure privacy and the light indicator will help you remember whether it’s on or off.
The XWH is designed to connect via Xbox Wireless technology to your Windows 10 PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S console. However, you can also use it to connect to mobile devices via Bluetooth! This does go an extra step though. You can pair the XWH to both your phone and Xbox! This means you can call your friends or use a service like Discord while also getting your console audio at the same time.
Using the Xbox Accessories app on consoles and PCs, you can customize your audio experience. This includes equalizers, bass boost, auto-mute sensitivity, how bright the mute light on the mic is, and more.
The headset promises up to 15 hours of play time and you can get there with only 3 hours of charging. Don’t have 3 hours before your next gaming session? Don’t worry, you only need 30 minutes to get 4 hours of use.
You can pre-order your XWH now from the Microsoft Store and select retailers for $99 with the official launch being March 16. These sound absolutely amazing, but we’ll have to wait and see.
