YELLOW EYES Trailer Brings Old-School Indie Horror Energy to a Nasty Demonic Possession Story
Some things found hidden inside the walls of an old house should stay exactly where they are. The new indie demonic horror film Yellow Eyes has dropped its official trailer, and this nasty little supernatural nightmare looks ready to deliver cursed relics, demonic possession, black ooze, blood, and one seriously screwed-up home renovation.
The trailer has a gritty, stripped-down horror style that brings to mind the unsettling DIY energy of the original The Evil Dead. There are creepy discoveries, increasingly freaky behavior, and the distinct impression that everyone involved is about to have a very bad time.
Yellow Eyes follows Brad and Julia, a young married couple who inherit the deteriorating home of Brad's late uncle. While exploring the place, they discover an ancient idol concealed inside the walls. At first, the strange relic looks like it could be worth something. Unfortunately for Brad, its real value comes with a demonic price tag.
The idol begins exerting a seductive influence over him, and Brad starts changing. His eyes become an unnatural yellow, mysterious black oil begins appearing, and whatever is attached to the artifact starts tightening its grip.
Then comes the ominous warning: "He can see now..." As Brad falls deeper under the entity's control, Julia realizes she's dealing with something far worse than a haunted house or cursed antique. Her husband is becoming the host for an ancient demon that feeds on humanity's darkest desires, turning those desires into an addiction that ultimately demands blood.
Yellow Eyes has a fun demonic hook beyond the usual possession setup. This thing isn't simply looking for a human body to hijack. It exploits desire, obsession, and addiction, spreading its influence beyond Brad as Julia desperately searches for an exorcist who might be able to save him.
The movie stars Nena Martins, Michael Kunicki, Jimmy Chung, Margo O'Connell, and DeVaughn Loman. Yellow Eyes also marks the feature directorial debut of Jesse Korman, a genre producer who previously directed a short film and has worked extensively as a producer.
The trailer makes the movie look grimy, weird, and enjoyably mean, with its cursed artifact, unnatural yellow eyes, demonic transformations, and freaky supernatural occurrences giving it some old-school indie horror flavor.
