YELLOWJACKETS Fans Can Expect Season 2 To Drop At The End of 2022

The first season of Showtime’s Yellowjackets recently came to an end. I haven’t seen the season finale yet, but I’m almost there! I’m a fan of the series and I’m excited about seeing the story continue beyond the first season.

Luckily, fans won’t have to wait too long for Season 2 to drop. Showtime president of entertainment Gary Levine recently revealed in an interview with Vulture that Season 2 is coming at the end of 2022:

"We are working towards a premiere at the end of 2022. We’d love to stay on an annual cycle. I think our audiences deserve that, and I also think that when you have a show that has this kind of a momentum, you don’t want to let it dissolve.”

I completely agree! As for where the development of Season 2 currently is, it’s currently in the writing process, so there’s still a lot of work to be done. If you haven’t watched the show yet, go check it out! It’s like a mix of LOST and Lord of the Flies but with some weird and crazy horror elements. I love it!

The description of the series reads, "Wildly talented high school girls' soccer players descend into savage clans after their plane crashes in the remote northern wilderness. Twenty-five years later, they discover that what began in the wild is far from over."

The story for the series flashes back and forth between two periods: One, the aftermath of a plane crash, when the members of a girls’ soccer team have to fend for themselves; the other, in their adult lives, as they deal with the trauma of that experience in very different ways.

The series also has a talented cast that includes Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, and Tawny Cypress and the characters they play are incredibly interesting. The series also stars Ella Purnell, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Nélisse, Steven Krueger and Warren Kole.

Levine and his partner Jana Winograde previously said in a statement, “Yellowjackets has been an unadulterated sensation for Showtime. We are overwhelmed by both the acclaim and the audience response to our series, including several ‘Best of 2021’ lists, a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and snowballing viewership. Clearly there is a hunger for originality and audacity, and our incredible showrunners Ashley, Bart and Jonathan, along with their pitch-perfect cast, have delivered that and so much more. I can’t wait to see the surprises they have in store for us in Season 2.”

It was also recently revealed that the creators of the show have a five-season plan that I hope fans get to see play out fully.
