YELLOWJACKETS Season 4 Trailer Brings the Team Back to Civilization as Their Dark Past Comes Back to Haunt Them

Showtime has released the first trailer for the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets, and after three seasons of brutal survival in the Canadian wilderness, the young team is finally heading home. Of course, returning to civilization after everything they've done to stay alive isn't going to be easy.

The trailer follows the surviving members of the 1990s high school soccer team as they return to their hometown of Wisayok, New Jersey, where they must figure out how to live normal lives again. That's a pretty tall order considering the horrific things they experienced, and the terrible things they did, while stranded in the wilderness.

Meanwhile, the present-day versions of the survivors are still dealing with the consequences of their past. The secrets they thought they'd buried in the woods continue to haunt them, and with the series coming to an end, it looks like those secrets may finally catch up with everyone.

The footage is accompanied by a haunting rendition of Alanis Morissette's "Ironic," which feels like a fitting choice for a story about survivors who escaped one nightmare only to spend the rest of their lives trapped by it.

I've really enjoyed watching Yellowjackets over the years. This show has been one hell of a crazy ride, and I've loved how far it's been willing to take its characters into some seriously savage territory.

The combination of survival horror, psychological drama, and completely messed-up character decisions has made it such a fun series to follow. I'm excited to see how this wild story finally comes to an end, especially now that we'll get to see more of what happened when the girls returned home.

The final season brings back Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess, and Hilary Swank.

The guest cast also includes June Squibb, Elijah Wood, Molly Ringwald, Devon Sawa, Sam Braun, and Dulé Hill, among others.

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets follows a talented high school girls' soccer team whose plane crashes in the remote northern wilderness.

What begins as a desperate fight to survive eventually turns the teammates against one another, transforming them into violent, savage factions. The story also follows the survivors nearly 25 years later as they struggle to keep their lives together while hiding the disturbing truth about what happened out there.

With the team finally returning home in the past and their adult counterparts facing the fallout in the present, Season 4 has plenty of ground to cover before the show come to an end.

I'm interested in seeing how the series brings its two timelines together and whether these characters will ever truly escape what happened in the wilderness. After everything we've watched them go through, I'm hoping the creators have one hell of an ending planned.

Yellowjackets Season 4 premieres November 20 on Paramount+ with the Premium Plan.
