Yes, KRAVEN THE HUNTER Included a Ridiculous CG'd Mouth and Blinking Eyes On a Still Image

It’s no secret that Sony’s live-action Marvel films have struggled to win over fans and critics. From Morbius to Madame Web, these movies have become better known for their meme-worthy moments than cinematic achievements.

And now, with Kraven the Hunter officially out in the wild, the internet has discovered yet another baffling choice that screams "lazy filmmaking."

Kraven the Hunter was already doomed from the start, failing to deliver a compelling story or characters. But one scene in particular has become the punchline of a joke the movie didn’t mean to tell.

Late in the film, there’s a pivotal conversation between Kraven and Calypso where they discuss his origin story, and it’s a moment that clearly underwent some heavy rewrites and reshoots.

Instead of refilming the scene, Sony opted for a solution so absurd it’s hard to believe… they CG’d a moving mouth and blinking eyes onto what appears to be a still image of Ariana DeBose’s face.

Yes, this is real. In what is supposed to be an emotional exchange, Calypso’s face looks noticeably off. Her mouth moves to match newly inserted dialogue, her eyes blink unnaturally, and her chest rises and falls—but not in sync with her speech.

For those who remember Madame Web’s ADR issues where Tahar Rahim’s Ezekiel Sims frequently looked like he was speaking a completely different language, Sony seems content to slap together half-baked fixes and hope audiences don’t notice.

As you might expect, fans have been roasting this ridiculous scene since it hit digital platforms. This level of filmmaking laziness is a big part of why Sony’s Marvel movies consistently bomb at the box office.

Instead of focusing on quality storytelling and production value, they seem more interested in rushing out crappy content in hopes people will spend money on seeing a film because it’s a movie about a Marvel character.
