Yondu's Spirit Will Live on Through Peter Quill's Music in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

Even though Yondu passed away while saving Peter Quill at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, his spirit will live on as the story continues. One of the ways that Yondu's presences will be felt is through the music of the film!

During a Facebook Live session, director James Gunn revealed that the music that was loaded up on the Zune that Peter was given will be Yondu communicating with him like his mom communicated with him in the two "Awesome Mix" volumes. He explained:

"[Guardians of the GalaxyVol. 1 and Vol. 2 have been Meredith’s song choices, her communication to Peter. In Vol. 3, the song choices will be Yondu’s communicating to Peter."

I love that! I was wondering what the significance of that Zune music would be. The "Awesome Mix" volumes had meaning because it was from his mom. It's awesome that the music loaded up on the Zune will also have a powerful meaning as it relates to the man who raised him and died saving his life.

Gun previously revealed that he has 181 songs so far that he wanted to include in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I can't wait to see what songs end up making the cut and included in the film! It will be interesting to see what Yondu's musical taste is like. Gunn certainly has great taste in music so we know we'll be treated with songs that we'll enjoy.
