You Can Blame THE MATRIX For The Black Leather Costumes in The X-MEN Movies
We finally have an answer as to why the X-Men in Bryan Singer’s 2000 film wore those ridiculous black leather suits. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige shared the insight, and you can blame The Matrix and clueless Hollywood executives.
During a recent press junket for Deadpool & Wolverine, Kevin Feige revealed: "There were studio execs in charge, who knew that The Matrix had been a big hit and The Matrix had black leather, so let’s put them in black leather.”
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Hollywood and it hasn’t changed! You can’t make this shit up. It’s hilarious to learn how these people in power think. They think they’re so smart, but in reality, many of them are idiots.
Heaven forbid they actually do anything that matches the source material. When previously talking about Hugh Jackman finally wearing the yellow and blue suit, Feige said:
"Hugh Jackman having never appeared in the character’s most iconic suit is like being Superman in 10 movies and never wearing the Superman costume. It’s a testament to Wolverine that it didn’t necessarily matter; the character is more than the costume."
He added: "When I realized Hugh was in, I went from studio mode to 'You know you gotta get in the yellow outfit, right?'"
Marvel Studios is going to reboot the X-Men in a big way in the MCU, and you can bet when they do, we won’t see the characters clad in black leather costumes.
