You Can Now Watch a Previously Banned SPONGEBOB SQAUREPANTS Episode on Paramount+
The beloved hit series SpongeBob SquarePants has over three hundred episodes in its library. While most of them are lighthearted and fun, two of them have caught a bad reputation over the years, with the consequence of them being pulled from syndication as well as streaming. One of the episodes was titled "Kwarantined Crab," and its storyline felt insensitive within the COVID-19 pandemic. The other episode, titled "Mid-Life Crustacean" (Season 3 Episode 15) was pulled for a different reason.
In 2018, the episode was taken out of TV rotation because it featured "some story elements [that] were not kid-appropriate" after review. It was available to stream after it was taken out of the televised rotation, but then in 2021, it was taken down altogether.
The episode’s synopsis reads: “Mr. Krabs realizes that he is getting old. He's not so hip anymore. He overhears Patrick and SpongeBob hyping up a big night out that they're planning and figures that would be a good way to get hip again. He asks the guys if he can come along on their wild night on the town. They show Mr. Krabs a great(?) time...They hit the Laundromat, pick up trash under the highway, and stop at a kids' amusement restaurant. Mr. Krabs realizes that younger or not - they are not any hipper than he is. He tries to leave, but Patrick convinces him to go on their last big event of the night - a panty raid. Finally they're doing something cool...until Mr. Krabs realizes they've raided his own mother's house. He's sent to bed without supper. At least that makes him feel young again.”
