Young Bruce Wayne will Appear in JOKER and Dante Pereira-Olson Will Play Him

With Thomas Wayne having a decent sized role in director Todd PhillipsJoker, a lot of fans have wondered if we would see a young Bruce Wayne show up. Well, today we’ve learned that Bruce Wayne will be in the movie!

CB is reporting that a young actor by the name of Dante Pereira-Olson has been cast in the role of the boy who will eventually grow up to be Batman. Pereira-Olson and Joaquin Phoenix have actually already worked together on the critically-acclaimed thriller You Were Never Really Here.

There’s no information on how big of a role that young Bruce will play in the film, but I imagine it won’t be a big one. After all, this isn’t his story. Douglas Hodge was also cast in the film as a middle-aged Alfred Pennyworth.

The film is set in the 80s and it will tell the explorative story “of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale."

Joker is "meant to be different from other comic book superhero movies". The story is also said to "delve into what it took for the Joker to become a mastermind criminal" and rumor has it that the film’s story will revolve around a Arthur Fleck, a failed comedian whose failures lead him into a life of crime.

When previously talking about the film, Phoenix said:

“I wouldn’t quite classify this as like any genre. I wouldn’t say it’s a superhero movie, or a studio movie or a … It feels unique, and I think more then anything, and probably the most important thing, is Todd seems very passionate about it and very giving, and so that’s exciting. I think, underneath the excitement of these films, and the size of them, there are these incredible characters that are dealing with real life struggles. And sometimes that is uncovered and exposed, and sometimes it isn’t, and so I always felt, like, there were characters in comics that were really interesting and deserve the opportunity to be kind of studied. And so I think that’s what Todd sees appealing about this idea."

Well, whatever it is, I can’t wait to see it! The film also stars Robert De NiroZazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, and Marc Maron.

Joker will be released in theaters on October 4th, 2019.
