Young Version of Whiplash's Dad Cast in AGENT CARTER

Marvel's Agent Carter series is going to be full of some fun surprises. One of the big ones for me was the inclusion of Howard Stark. We got our first look at him in the series in a sneak peek that was released yesterday. We've now learned that a younger version of Anton Vanko from Iron Man 2 will be included in the series. Anton is the father of Ivan Vanko, who became the villain Whiplash in the film. According to ComicBook.com, actor Costa Ronin has been cast in the role.

Whiplash swore revenge on the Stark family for what happened between his father and Howard Stark. If you recall, in the opening scene of Iron Man 2, Anton tells Ivan that he and Howard co-created the arc reactor, which was a renewable energy source that Tony eventually used to power his armor. Anton ended up being deported to Siberia, and Howard was the one who took the credit.

Since Howard Stark is part of the Agent Carter saga, it looks like we'll get some more insight into his early relationships to other Marvel characters such as Anton Vanko. If that is the case, we'll also get to see the early development of the arc reactor, which will be cool.  This series is shaping up to be much more than what I expected, and I love it!

This has yet to be confirmed by the studio, but it comes from a trusted site. Agent Carter premieres on ABC in January 6th, 2015.
