YouTube Confirms Its Original Shows Will Be Available to Stream for Free with Ads
YouTube is shaking up its strategy and is making some choices that seem to be great for its viewers. Last fall, YouTube came out with a statement saying that they wanted to shift focus to some unscripted content tied to established celebrities instead of going all in on original scripted shows that all the streaming services are competing with right now. They’ve now added in a press release that they will be focusing on “three types of series: music, learning and personalities.”
That’s all cool, and it will be interesting to see what comes from it, but the best news is that they’ve also confirmed that the streaming service YouTube Premium (formally known as YouTube Red) will make their original series, such as Cobra Kai, available to fans for free, with ads. That’s great news. Ads are annoying, but paying for service upon service is more annoying. And Cobra Kai is one of my absolute favorite shows right now! So I really appreciate that.
Are you happy about the original unscripted content coming to YouTube Premium? Are you stoked the scripted series are now free? Let us know in the comments.
