YouTube TV Raises Their Prices To $50 Per Month!
For those of you who have been enjoying YouTube TV, I’ve got some bad news for you. According to Variety, YouTube TV is raising their monthly rate to $50 for all it’s customers! The new price will kick in after YouTube “signed a multiyear carriage deal with Discovery for YouTube TV, covering linear programming and access to nearly 50,000 on-demand titles.”
I should clarify that this is not the YouTube Premium subscription where you can watch Cobra Kai and some of the other original YouTube shows. This is the TV service that they offer.
On April 10th, YouTube TV will be launching eight networks which include Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, and MotorTrend. Then by the end of the month, OWN will launch on the service.
Under the new pricing, YouTube TV will cost $49.99 per month, effective April 10 for new customers. That’s up from $35 per month under the original YouTube TV plan launched in 2016, and up from $40 monthly for subs who have signed up in the past year. Existing subscribers will see the new pricing in the billing cycle after May 13. (The price for members billed through Apple will be $54.99 per month.)
I guess I get the price hike as YouTube TV now includes more than 70 channels, including local ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC stations in more than 90% of U.S. markets. In addition, the premium service Epix is also now available on YouTube TV for an additional charge.
The question is, is $50 a month for YouTube TV worth it to you?
