YU-GI-OH! Announces 3 Exciting Sets for the TCG
About 1-2 weeks ago, Konami made some exciting announcements for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game. First, they announced a new core set releasing on October 20 called Age of Overlord. This set will see new cards to support Supreme King Z-ARC from Maximum Crisis including a new form that’s a Dragon/Fusion/Pendulum Monster. There will also be a searcher released for Supreme King Z-ARC to help you be more consistent. In addition, Visas Starfrost continues to get new support including a new level 4 Tuner, a Pendulum Monster, and a level 6 Mannadium Synchro Monster. Finally, Horus is rising from the ashes to maybe be a new archetype with new cards for Special Summons from the Graveyard and make things worse for your opponent. You can find the rarity breakdown for Age of Overlord below.
10 Secret Rares
14 Ultra Rares
26 Super Rares
49 Commons
(24 of these cards are also available as Quarter Century Secret Rares and 1 special card is ONLY available as a Quarter Century Secret Rare!)
Second, Konami announced the 2-Player Starter Set. This set for Yu-Gi-Oh! will offer two decks along with a 64-page comic to walk you through a scripted duel in order to learn the basics. One deck will focus on Synchro Monsters while the other focuses on Xyz Monsters. This sounds like a good entry point for anyone curious about how to play and I do think it’s smart to incorporate different Extra Deck types slowly. Depending on what cards are in the decks, this could be really good for onboarding new duelists.
Third, duelists will be able to enjoy the 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection this November. This is an all-foil set featuring 79 of the most popular cards across Yu-Gi-Oh! across 7 different rarities. What makes this incredibly exciting is the introduction of two brand-new rarities for the TCG: Prismatic Collector’s Rares (“made with extra sparkle”) and Prismatic Ultimate Rares (“with a raised 3D varnish effect”). These are rarities previously exclusive to Asia as Collector’s Rare and Ultimate Rare exclusively and many TCG fans have coveted these rarities. We don’t have a full breakdown of cards but we do know the following:
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Baronne de Fleur
Borreload Savage Dragon
Effect Veiler
Egyptian God Slime
Forbidden Droplet
Infinite Impermanence
Nibiru, The Primal Being
Pot of Prosperity
Triple Tactics Talent
Each card in the pack will be available in each rarity making it very exciting. Each pack will include 5 cards (2 Super Rares, 2 Ultra Rares, 1 Secret Rare) with a chance for 1-3 of the cards to have the new ‘luxury rare’ technologies. There is a 1-in-4 chance of the Secret Rare being a Platinum Secret Rare or Quarter Century Secret Rare and a 1-in-6 chance for each of the Ultra Rares to be a Prismatic Collector’s Rare or Prismatic Ultimate Rare. What cards are you hoping to see in the 25th Anniversary Rarity Collection?
