Konami has a treat for all fans of Yu-Gi-Oh!. A new box set has been revealed for Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duels as well as a new structure deck for the traditional game. The box set is currently being called Speed Duel Box and will include a lot of different cards for fans to enjoy. Each box will feature 200 commons from a static pool, 193 of which are brand new to Speed Duels. There will also be 20 Skill Cards included with 16 of them being new to the game, plus a special prize pack that will have 8 out of 24 Secret Rares. Finally, fans will receive four 2-player deluxe game mats.
Kaiba hosted the Battle City tournament to claim the legendary Egyptian God Cards as his own, so it would only be fitting for you to Duel for exclusive prizes of your own too. To top off the Speed Duel Box*, a special prize pack will be included with 8 Secret Rares from a pool of 24 cards. Channel your inner Rare Hunter and upgrade some of the most iconic cards in Dueling history, along with other fan favorites, to the highest Speed Duel rarity ever released! You can distribute them as prizing in your own tournament, give one to each of the participants, or just keep them all for yourself!
Among the cards that will be available in the set, the three Egyptian Gods, Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra will all be included as well as older staple cards like Dark Paladin, Jinzo, and XYZ Dragon Cannon. There’s no mention of the rarities for the cards, but I’m guessing the Egyptian God Cards will be in the Secret Rare category. Speed Duel Box will be available on December 11 with an MSRP of $29.99.
Each Speed Duel Box contains:
200 Commons
20 Skill Cards
8 (of 24) Secret Rares
4 2-Player Deluxe Game Mats
The other announcement is the upcoming Structure Deck, Spirit Charmers. This deck is all about using Aussa, Eria, Hiita, and Wynn to take control of your opponent’s monsters of various attributes. I’ll be honest, I’m really interested to see how this plays out since I know these cards usually don’t see play as they require your opponent to play certain attributes of monsters. These cards aren’t particularly good, but maybe I’ve missed something?
Structure Deck: Spirit Charmers focuses on Spellcasters and controlling monsters of many Attributes. Basic Charmers can steal away monsters that match their Attribute, and if you control even one Charmer, you can fill the field with familiars! Buff the whole team with Awakening of the Possessed then back up your monsters with powerful Spiritual Art cards that let you remove the best card from your opponent’s hand, bury any card they control to the bottom of the Deck, inflict massive damage, and more!
Spirit Charmers has some surprises in store for fans though. Each deck will have a variant art card for one of the four charmers. In addition, five brand new pieces of art show the daily lives of the charmers and will be available as tokens and on the deluxe game mats with each deck coming with one of the five tokens and one of the five game mats. Structure Deck: Spirit Charmers will be available on November 20 with an MSRP of $9.99.
Each Structure Deck: Spirit Charmers contains:
5 Ultra Rares (4 fixed + 1 of 4 Variant Art cards)
2 Super Rares
35 Commons
1 of 5 Super Rare Token Cards
1 of 5 Double-sided Deluxe Game Mats/Dueling Guide
