YU-GI-OH! Is Giving the Crystal Beasts a New Structure Deck

The Crystal Beasts are an archetype in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG that had a lot of promise but were not actually designed very well (although I have beaten someone with them before). They were introduced by Jesse Anderson in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime, and their main gimmick is that when they’re destroyed, they can be put into the Spell & Trap Zone. That’s about it. Their boss monster is Rainbow Dragon which is pretty cool, and the art for each of them is really cool, but overall the cards are pretty lackluster. However, Konami has decided that they need their chance to shine with the recent announcement of Structure Deck: Legend of the Crystal Beasts. This constructed deck features new cards for the strategy that hopefully make it a bit more viable including a new Fusion Monster version of Rainbow Dragon that can “reach 11000 ATK, clear the field, and unleash your banished “Crystal Beast” monsters for a devastating final blow!” That’s a pretty big promise.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Crystal Beasts, you can pick up the Speed Duel GX: Duel Academy Box and get a small feel for what they’re like. This new structure deck will be available on August 19 for $10.99. Inside the Legend of the Crystal Beasts, duelists will find the following:

  • 5 Ultra Rares

  • 3 Super Rares

  • 38 Commons

  • 3 Token Cards

  • 1 Double-sided Deluxe Game Mat/Dueling Guide
