YU-GI-OH! Releases STRUCTURE DECK: FREEZING CHAINS and It's Cold

Konami released Structure Deck: Freezing Chains for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG this last weekend. I’m not going to sugar coat it. It’s not the best structure deck. That being said, I don’t think it’s the worst one either even if it is pretty bad. It’s just a shame that there wasn’t a big staple card in the TCG version to help draw in sales. In the OCG they had Crossout Designator and I can appreciate the TCG not wanting to use a structure deck to release that card, I wish the replacement was of a similar caliber. There are some new cards for the Ice Barrier archetype, so that’s good. Also, why is Dupe Frog in this deck? It has no valid targets and is just a level 2 Water Aqua. That and Ronintoadin are just so random. This deck revolves around Synchro Summoning, so let’s throw in a monster that can’t be used for Synchro Summons. That’s a great idea. Maybe if there had been Fusion, XYZ, or Link monsters in the deck, but it’s all Synchros.

I think the concept and art for Ice Barrier is pretty cool. Plus, you have Trishula and now a bigger Trishula, so that’s awesome. It’s just a shame that this structure deck didn’t provide more oomph for the strategy.
