YU-GI-OH! TCG Ban List is Weaker than Anyone Thought

Yu-Gi-Oh! fans have been really curious to see if Konami would even release a banlist for the TCG this month. Many fans theorized some decent ideas for how to help shape the current meta that creates one card combos that lock your opponent out of the game away from that even though many pieces weren’t going to be banned because they were too new (looking at you Crystron Halqifibrax and Linkross!). Well, Konami did release a new list. However, due to a lack of actual events, it appears Konami decided to do the bare minimum. The only changes are three Limited cards (cards that can only have 1 copy per deck) were moved to Unlimited status:

  • Altergeist Multifaker

  • Nekroz of Unicore

  • Ritual Beast Ulti-Cannahawk

This is really kind of ridiculous. Fans have been talking about problems with the current meta for months and I guess Konami doesn’t see a problem since no official tournaments have been happening. While I understand this, the big problem is that we won’t get another list for 3 months! On the bright side, with the announcement of Remote Duels, I’m hoping that we see some huge changes then. I’m talking Linkross, Halqifibrax, Auroradon, and Block Dragon. Those four need to go.

What do you think of this minimal-change banlist? Are you happy about it? What cards do you think will have to go in September?
