YU-GI-OH! With Holograms is the Way of the Future

Since the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime first premiered, fans have been waiting for the day when we can have duels with holograms. While we’ve been waiting for almost 20 years for Konami to release some way of having holograms with the game, French Yugituber SuperZouloux has brought us much closer. I was scrolling through Twitter the other day and Dexerto shared a video clip of SuperZouloux playing a game with someone I assume is a friend and when he plays a Blue-Eyes White Dragon, a 3D model of the iconic card rose from the card and moved. It was a glorious moment to behold.

That looks incredible, right!? Well, SuperZouloux made an entire video talking about what we saw in that short clip. Basically, he’s spent 7 months or so learning how to do this. He made a special mat and has it integrated with some other tech in order to project these images on computer screens. So, the players don’t actually see these 3D models unless they look at a screen, but that doesn’t change how absolutely amazing! Dear Konami, please hire and work with this guy to make hologram duels a reality! It does get tricky because each Yu-Gi-Oh! card does have to be chipped, a model has to be created for each card, etc. However, I think with Konami’s R&D, they could definitely find a way to make this work.

Just imagine all of the old players that would return to the game to enjoy this amazing technological shift in the game! You can watch the a video of the first entire holographic duel SuperZouloux played below.
