Zachary Levi to Star in Live-Action Adaptation of HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON

Do you guys remember the children’s book Harold and the Purple Crayon? It’s about a little child who is able to create and explore magical worlds thanks to his purple crayon. Well, Sony Pictures is adapting Crockett Johnson’s 1955 classic into a live-action film. What’s more is that the film is set to star Zachary Levi. I am a huge fan of Levi, but I am really curious what his role is going to be. The screenplay for the film is being written by David Guion and Michael Handelman whose credits include Dinner for Schmucks.

There was talk of an animated adaptation being made by Sony Pictures Animation several years ago with Spike Jonze, but that saw the light of day. What do you think of this new development? What angle do you think they’ll take it? Who should direct the film?
