Zachary Quinto Reprises Spock For The First Time In 9 Years On NBC’s BRILLIANT MINDS
Spock is the face of Star Trek for a lot of fans, and for an entire generation that face belonged to Zachary Quinto. It has been nine years since he last raised the Vulcan salute in Star Trek Beyond, and now he is back in pointed ears, only this time the setting is a hospital hallway instead of the bridge.
While Ethan Peck carries the legacy on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, we met Quinto’s Spock in the Kelvin timeline films from J.J. Abrams, and fans have been waiting for his return in another Star Trek movie. While that’s still a long way off, Quinto suited up as Spock again for an episode of his series Briliant Minds.
ComicBook shared a behind the scenes look at tonight’s Halloween episode of the show, and it shows Quinto’s Dr. Oliver Wolf showing up to the hospital party dressed as Spock. He is joined by Tamberla Perry as Dr. Carol Pierce, who is fully in Uhura mode, which means the pair will roll into the festivities as a matching Starfleet duo.
A fourth Kelvin timeline movie remains in development, although who knows if that will actually ever happen. So, this episode becomes a rare treat to see Quinto in that classic uniform again. It is a costume party on Earth, not a mission at warp, but it still scratches the itch.
Spock has been the logical heart of Star Trek since Leonard Nimoy first put on the ears in the 1960s. Quinto’s interpretation honored that legacy while giving it a modern edge.
