Zack Snyder Asked Christopher Nolan for His Blessing to Reboot Batman

After Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy concluded, we all knew it would only be a matter of time before Warner Bros. rebooted the character and franchise again. It's what they do! Zack Snyder is now leading the charge on those projects.

Nolan served as an executive producer on Man of Steel, but he has no hand in the upcoming DCEU movies. When Snyder found out what the studio wanted to do next, which involved Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he went to Nolan to ask for his blessing. Snyder told Empire the story:

"'You tell me if you don’t want me to do it,' Snyder told Nolan. After a silence, Nolan said, 'Well, we don’t own these characters. When you’re done making Batman movies, someone else will [make them].'"

There's really no way around it, and Snyder admitted that he thinks Nolan was a little bummed out:

“I think he found it a little bit hard. I would feel the same way.”

We are obviously getting a completely different take on the superhero now, and that's totally ok because it's separate from what Nolan did. It's not like someone is trying to continue what Nolan did. His films stand on their own. They are amazing films, and it will be interesting to see if Snyder can hit the bar that Nolan set.

Snyder went on to talk about creating the story and the intimacy of the conflict between the two heroes.

“In a lot of ways Batman v Superman is a very personal concept. It is just two people trying to understand each other’s point of view.”

This sure does make for a compelling story, and I hope that Snyder can pull off something amazing. I know the film is going to look amazing visually, but this better have a tight story and not be like Man of Steel, which was a mess.
