Zack Snyder Explains Why He Directed BATMAN V SUPERMAN Instead of MAN OF STEEL 2
After Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel was released the director opted to jump right into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice over a sequel to his Superman.
Personally, I wish that Snyder would’ve taken a little more time building his DC Cinematic Universe before launching into a movie that would bring together Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.
I think Snyder and DC Films just needed to be a little more patient with these movies. I think the movies would’ve turned out so much better than how they did had they taken time to build the universe and these characters like Marvel did in the beginning.
So, why did Snyder opt to direct Batman v Superman over Man of Steel 2? During an interview with GQ the director was asked about this and he explained that it was a story that he was just compelled to tell.
Synder said: “Once you talk about the fact that Bruce Wayne exists in the same world as Superman, right? Then you are into a Batman concept. You have to finish that thought.”
He added: “Now, Man of Steel 2, if you were to make it, you know with Brainiac or whatever you're gonna do, which it certainly could have been...and maybe that's it, you hold it off for a movie, and that's possible.”
He went on to say: “I just felt like I needed to know what Bruce's take on this was, like, Bruce's take on the near-destruction of the world. And it really depends on how important you think Batman is in the Trinity.”
That’s something he could’ve done after Man of Steel 2, and we would’ve actually got a Man of Stele sequel. I would’ve easily traded Batman v Superman for Man of Steel 2!
But, what’s done is down and the DC Cinematic Universe is going from another evolution with James Gunn and Peter Safran leading the charge. I’ve got faith that they will deliver some great DC movies!
