Zack Snyder Is a Big FORTNITE Fan and He Wants to Direct a Film Version of the Game
Zack Snyder has made it clear that he’s a big fan of the hit video game franchise Fortnite, and now he’s saying that he wants to direct a feature film adaptation of the game. During a recent interview with Etalk, the director was asked if he'd adapt Fortnite for the big screen and he responded, saying:
"Of course. I really wanted to make some Fortnite skins for the movie [Rebel Moon], first of all, just like as the most obviously basic involvement. But yeah, look, Fortnite is an amazing world, and it is an amazing distraction for me. But it's really cool, and the alchemy that they've created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was, and then it was something entirely different."
In regards to directing the movie, Snyder added: "You definitely don't know. You definitely can never say never, that's my mantra in this business." Snyder previously talked about his love for the game saying:
"My son and I got into Fortnite. I kind of wanted to play it with him and then he didn't like it, so then I ended up just playing it by myself. I went down a bad rabbit hole with Fortnite in the sense that I took a pretty deep dive… I was Meeseeks from Rick and Morty."
I think a Fortnite movie is inevitable; we just know when it will eventually happen. If it does and Snyder is involved, it’ll probably be awhile as the director is currently focused on building our his epic Rebel Moon sci-fi franchise.
Snyder isn’t the only filmmaker in Hollywood who wants to direct a Fortnite movie. Fast X and The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier would also love the opportunity to make a Fortnite movie one day. He previously said:
"Because the game is incredible. The characters... I mean there's so much more to be told. It'd be funny. It would be full of action and everything."
Donald Mustard, the CCO of Epic Games, did say earlier this year that a live-action Fortnite movie was a possibility. Would you like to see Snyder direct a Fortnite movie?
