Zack Snyder is Creating a Norse Mythology Anime Series For Netflix

Zack Snyder is developing another project for Netflix. He’s going to be helping them expand on their slate of anime series. The filmmaker is set to co-create and executive produce an original anime series set in the world of Norse mythology.

There are no details on the plot of the series, but Snyder is creating the series with longtime collaborator Jay Oliva, who is a storyboard artist that has worked with Snyder on his DC film projects. He will serve as the showrunner, director, and executive producer on the series. Oliva has also directed several DC animated films such as Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Assault on Arkham, Batman Vs. Robin, Justice League Dark, and more.

John Derderian, head of anime programming at Netflix had this to say in a statement regarding the new series:

“Zack Snyder’s innovation in visual storytelling has pushed the industry forward and established him as one of the most distinctive filmmakers of his generation. We are beyond excited to partner with him and his exceptional team to bring the iconic characters and stories of Norse mythology to life in his inimitable style.”

Snyder is currently directing, writing, and producing the zombie thriller feature Army of the Dead for Netflix, and it seems like he’s found a home for his future projects.

What do you think about Snyder and Oliva teaming up for this new anime series? I’m actually curious to see how it turns out. It could end up being great! I love Norse mythology so this is a project that has sparked my interest.
