Zack Snyder Offers a BATMAN V SUPERMAN IMAX Remaster Update and Release Details
Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been going through an IMAX remaster that will be presented in a new 1.43:1 IMAX aspect ratio and will also feature new color grading. Last year, during the holidays a video was released showing off the new look of the film and also offered a side-by-side comparison with how the old original film would have looked. As you’ll see, there’s a big difference.
With how busy I was during the holidays, I totally missed this video and never posted it. I’ve noticed that a lot of people don’t seem happy with the new 1.43:1 ratio presentation of the upcoming new cut of Justice League, but this video for Batman v Superman shows off what that ratio adds to the visuals. I’m fine with the new ratio, I just wish I’d be able to watch the film on a true IMAX screen! I’d much rather see the version of this film like that instead of at home.
In a recent interview with I Minutemen, Snyder offered an update on the Batman v Superman IMAX remaster revealing that it will be available to own on Blu-ray and 4K UHD:
"I believe so, I believe so. Blu-ray, 4K. I just approved the Blu-ray box the other day. So it for sure will exist on Blu-ray, and then I think it will exist on HBO Max. Look, I have to confirm now, but for sure we've been talking about the release. It's meant to, especially for the special edition, it’s to replace the one that was kind of messed up a little bit. The Blu-ray, I think, was okay. The 4K was [messed up].
"I remember watching it on Apple movies or wherever it was, or somewhere, and going, 'Wait, what? That's not correct.' The reds were all blocked up, it was really weird."
So, for those of you that are fans of Batman v Superman, there’s an upgraded version of the film coming.
