Zack Snyder Posts New Batman Photo From JUSTICE LEAGUE: “Faith, Alfred. Faith.”
Zack Snyder knows exactly how to get SnyderVerse fans talking again. All it took this time was one photo of Batman, one very Snyder-looking pose, and three words.
The filmmaker shared a behind-the-scenes image from Justice League on Instagram featuring Batman standing with his arms extended in a Christ-like pose on the film set. Snyder kept the caption short: “Faith, Alfred. Faith.”
Naturally, fans had plenty to say about it. Within hours of Snyder posting the image, it had pulled in more than 70,800 likes and 2,000 comments. A lot of the responses celebrated Snyder’s take on the DC universe, while others once again brought out the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse hashtag in hopes that his original plans might someday continue.
The photo is another reminder that Snyder’s DC movies still have a very active fanbase years after his run with the franchise came to an end.
Snyder eventually got the chance to complete his intended version of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which arrived on HBO Max in 2021 with a massive 242-minute runtime. The movie brought Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, the Flash, and Superman together against Steppenwolf, and it became HBO Max’s fourth-most-streamed film of that year.
Of course, getting that version released was a long and unusual road. The theatrical version of Justice League arrived in 2017 after Joss Whedon took over production. Snyder had stepped away from the project following the death of his daughter, Autumn, in March 2017.
Years later, Warner Bros. spent $70 million to finish Snyder’s version of the film, including shooting additional footage in October 2020.
The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign was a major factor in making that happen. Fans spent years pushing Warner Bros. to release Snyder’s cut, and the movement also raised more than $500,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, and Ray Fisher were among the cast members who publicly backed the campaign.
Anyone hoping Snyder’s latest Batman post is secretly teasing another DC project probably shouldn’t read too much into it. DC artist Jim Lee said at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022 that there were no plans for additional Snyder-directed DC projects. Zack Snyder’s Justice League remains the final DCEU movie Snyder directed or co-wrote.
That hasn’t stopped him from regularly digging into his DC archive and sharing photos and memories from those productions on social media.
For now, Batman’s message is pretty simple: “Faith, Alfred. Faith.”
