Zack Snyder Shares His Excitement To Watch DC's BLUE BEETLE
While Zack Snyder isn’t involved with the DC movies anymore, he has still shared his excitement for the DC films as they continue to be made. Blue Beetle is the next big film to be released by Warner Bros. and DC Studios, and in regards to that film, Snyder shared on X:
I have no idea how Blue Beetle is going to turn out at the box office, but it really does look like a fun movie that will provide some enjoyable superhero entertainment for the whole family. I do like that Snyder is still showing support for these DC movies regardless of how he was treated by WB during the Justice League fiasco.
While Blue Beetle is said to be a part of DC's next chapter, James Gunn has also said Blue Beetle is "totally disconnected" from any other DC-related property. He said:
"I think that we've gotten lucky with the next four movies, frankly, because we have [Shazam! Fury of the Gods], which leads into Flash, which resets everything, which then goes into Blue Beetle, which is totally disconnected. He can totally be a part of the DCU, goes into [Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom], which leads into Superman, our first big project. But the one thing that we can promise is that everything from Superman forward, or from our first project forward, will be canon and will be connected. We're using some actors from the past. We're not using other actors from the past, but everything from that moment forward will be connected and consistent."
In the film, “Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.”
Blue Beetle was directed by Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) from a screenplay adapted by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala). The movie stars Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) as Reyes; Bruna Marquezine as Penny, the female lead and love interest; Belissa Escobedo as Jamie’s younger sister, Milagros; as well as Harvey Guillén; and Susan Sarandon as the villain, Victoria Kord.
The movie is set to be released only in theaters on August 18, 2023.
