Zack Snyder Shares Photo of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Wearing Batman’s Gauntlets

When Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hit theaters, fans expected a showdown between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel, but the movie also ended up introducing audiences to Wonder Woman in the DCEU, setting the stage for the iconic heroes to unite against Doomsday.

Now, years later, director Zack Snyder has shared a cool behind-the-scenes image that fans had never seen before. The photo features Gal Gadot suited up as Wonder Woman… but with a fun twist. She’s wearing Batman’s gauntlets.

It’s a fun little visual crossover between the two heroes and the image pairs nicely with a photo Gadot posted back in 2018 where she tried on Batman’s cowl. S

eeing Diana Prince sporting pieces of the Dark Knight’s gear gives the moment a playful vibe and it’s the kind of thing that longtime DC fans will get a kick out of.

When Gadot was first cast as Diana Prince, reactions were mixed. At the time she was best known for the Fast & Furious franchise, and some fans questioned whether she was the right choice to play the Amazon warrior.

Still, she ended up portraying Wonder Woman across several DC films including Wonder Woman, Justice League, Wonder Woman 1984, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash.

With DC Studios now building a new cinematic universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran, Gadot will not return as Wonder Woman in the upcoming DCU.

Interestingly, while promoting Heart of Stone in 2023, Gadot suggested that she might still reprise the role. She spoke multiple times about meetings with Gunn and Safran and strongly hinted that they had plans for her to return in another Wonder Woman movie.

What exactly happened there remains unclear, but the project previously being developed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 3, was scrapped soon after DC Studios was formed.

While Gadot’s time as the Amazon hero appears to be finished, Snyder recently opened up about an early concept he once had for the character that explored her centuries-long life.

"The idea of that was an early riff we were doing: once Wonder Woman left the island in search of Ares, what happened to her in her different incarnations? My idea for it was that she would travel around the world looking for Ares and she would go to every place where there was conflict."

He continued to explain how those journeys might have shaped her relationships with warriors she met along the way.

"On those battlefields she found these lovers, warriors, and they would age out because she is immortal. They would be her lover for ten years or they might die in battle, and it was probably sad for a lot of the guys because they would see her starting to be nice to the next young soldier and be like, 'Oh, I’m being replaced.'"

Snyder added that those warriors would eventually become loyal allies who fought beside her across different eras.

"But all the guys that she had with her were those loyal warriors she found on the battlefields all over the world. We talked about if Steve Trevor was there in Crimea. It was never a screenplay, but we talked about it so much that it kind of had its own life."

While Snyder’s version of the DCEU has wrapped up and Gadot’s chapter as Wonder Woman appears to be closed, the character will eventually return to the big screen in the new DCU.

Ana Nogueira, who is writing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, has been hired to write the next Wonder Woman movie for DC Studios.
