Zack Snyder Wanted To Shoot More Scenes For His JUSTICE LEAGUE Cut with the Cast But WB Said No

When the details were revealed as to how Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League ended up being picked up by HBO Max, we learned that Snyder put together a presentation back in February and invited a select group of executives from Warner Bros., HBO Max, and DC to his house to screen his version of the film to them.

After the screening, Snyder outlined the ideas he had for releasing his cut of the film, and “The executives left the meeting pumped.” The plan includes bringing the original post-production crew in to score the film, cut it, and add and finish the original visual effects for the film.

One other aspect of that initial pitch that was recently revealed included bringing in the original cast to shoot new scenes for the film, but that where the studio drew the line. They said no, but the cast will come back to record additional dialogue. The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez reports:

"There’s not going to be any reshoots of any kind with any actors. It’s just additional dialogue. Here’s something that hasn’t been reported yet: [Snyder] did want to shoot and he wanted to do additional photography but HBO Max said no, that’s not happening.

"We’ll give you money for post-production, for special effects, for scoring, and even ADR but no reshoots of any kind on this movie."

The studio is willing to pump between $20 million - $30 million into Snyder’s vision for the film. It makes sense that WB wouldn’t want to spend any more than that. I’m actually surprised that they are even putting that kind of investment into it. But, it’s cool that they are. I still think it’s crazy that after all these years, after everything that happened, Snyder was finally able to sell his vision for Justice League to the studio and this time they actually want to do it.
