Zack Snyder Wants To See Ben Affleck Get To Make His Batman and Deathstroke Movie
A lot of DC fans have been curious about The Batman movie that Ben Affleck was developing before he dropped out of the project. Zack Snyder’s original Justice League film was supposed to set up Affleck’s Batman movie, but it’s very likely that movie will never get made. But, in a recent interview, Snyder said that he would love to see Affleck get to make the film.
While a guest on John Doe Movie Reviews, Snyder said:
"Look, I would love for Ben to make that Deathstroke movie. That would be amazing. I don't know that he's going to, or that they [studio Warner Bros.] want him to, but I would love for him to do it. That would be so cool. And Joe is amazing."
A lot of fans would love to see that happen as well. Joe Manganiello, who plays DC assassin Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke in the DCEU, previously discussed Affleck’s vision of Batman and explained that it would have had a strong David Fincher vibe and even compared it to Fincher’s 1997 film The Game.
The original pitch for The Batman saw Deathstroke systematically destroying Bruce Wayne’s life, his public status as Gotham City’s leading citizen, and his private existence as Batman. Manganiello went on to say:
“It was a really dark story in which Deathstroke was like a shark or a horror movie villain that was dismantling Bruce’s life from the inside out. It was this systemic thing: He killed everyone close to Bruce and destroyed his life to try and make him suffer because he felt that Bruce was responsible for something that happened to him.”
It would have been interesting to see that film and I can’t help but think that DC fans would have loved to see Affleck’s Batman face-off with Manganiello’s Deathstroke.
