Zack Snyder Won't Be Paid for His Cut of JUSTICE LEAGUE and Christopher Nolan Told Him Not To Watch Joss Whedon's Version

Zack Snyder recently sat down with Vanity Fair for a new interview regarding his upcoming four-hour cut of Justice League. During the interview, he shared that Christopher Nolan and his wife Deborah Snyder told him he should not watch the movie. In case you’re wondering, he still hasn’t seen the movie:

“They came and they just said, ‘You can never see that movie.’ How am I supposed to introduce six characters and an alien with potential for world domination in two hours? I mean, I can do it, it can be done. Clearly, it was done. But I didn’t see it.”

The filmmaker went on to reveal that he will not be paid for the work that he’s done on his cur of the Justice League. Snyder explains that he had to forgo his salary to get the full creative freedom that he wanted for the project:

“I’m not getting paid. I didn’t want to be beholden to anyone, and it allowed me to keep my negotiating powers with these people pretty strong.”

That’s pretty cool that he was willing to sacrifice his pay so that he could 100% fully realize his vision of the film. It shows us how much he really cares about this project and the fans who have been wanting to see it.

In Zack Snyder's Justice League, “determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.'“

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be released on HBO Max on March 18th.
