Director Zack Snyder is hard at work on his upcoming zombie flick, Army of the Dead, that is headed to Netflix. The film had finished shooting, but recent allegations against one of the film’s stars, comedian Chris D’Elia, has prompted the studio to oust the actor and replace him in the film with comedian and Star Trek: Discovery actress Tig Notaro.

D’Elia, known for his roles in the series Undateable and You, has been accused of sexually harassing underage girls on social media, which he denies. The actor has not only lost out on his Army of the Dead role, but also the unscripted prank show he was attached to at Netflix as well. He has also been dropped by CAA and 3Arts.

Army of the Dead will return to production as soon as the studio decides it is safe to do so. Reshoots will include actual filming as well as Notaro acting opposite a partner on green screen with CG mixed in. The film “follows the aftermath of a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, and a group of mercenaries who venture into the quarantine zone to pull off a big heist.”

Notaro joins the rest of the ensemble that includes Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win.

The film is currently slated for a 2021 release.
