Zackary Levi Shares a Close-Up Shot of His SHAZAM! Costume as Reshoots Begin

DC has got some exciting films in development but as of right now, the one that I’m most excited about seeing is Shazam! The trailers that have been released for the film have been great and the movie looks like it’s going to be a blast!

Well, the film is going back into production for reshoots. Don’t worry, reshoots for big films like this is normal, and there shouldn’t be any cause for concern.

As shooting began, Zachary Levi shared a close-up image of his superhero suit that gives us a a better look at the material and the pattern in it.

After the trailer was released showing us Shazam! in action, director David F. Sandberg said that wasn’t the final version of the suit. They are still in the process of refining it. He explained:

"Making suits is hard. Like painting a room you can look at little swatches all day but you won't really see the effect until it's done. The color of the finished suit didn't look quite as expected in some lights (particularly daylight) which is on me since I decided to change fabric very late in prep and there wasn't time for as many tests. I figured we'd just have to tweak it in post. The first image released though unfortunately didn't have any post production done to it. That was right as we were putting the trailer together. I figured since that image was out there perhaps we shouldn't stray too far from it in the trailer. Might be confusing."

He goes on to talk about a photo that was released for Shazam! that showed off the suit and went on to say that it’s still a work in progress:

"This image is closer to what I'm going for, but it's all still a work in progress and we'll see where we end up. No images (or the trailer) have the finished bolt effect either (it's not going to be an extreme effect or anything but it's not just a simple glow).”

Well, I’ll be looking forward to seeing how the final design turns out! Here’s the synopsis:

In the film, Billy (whose younger version is played by Disney Channel star Asher Angel) is assigned to a new foster home where he befriends comic book superfan Freddy. One day, Billy’s subway ride is interrupted by a mysterious Wizard (Djimon Hounsou) who’s been searching for ages to find the right successor to inherit his powers. He reveals the teen’s been selected to gain an assortment of abilities.

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Shazam! also stars Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation); Darla, played by Faithe Herman(This is Us) as Mary; Eugene, played by Ian Chen (Fresh Off the Boat); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (TV’s Hawaii Five-O). Cooper Andrews of The Walking Dead and Marta Milans (Killer Women) play foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez.

Shazam! will be released on April 5, 2019.
