Zeo Rangers Kick Butt in POWER RANGERS: HEROES OF THE GRID ZEO RANGERS PACK Expansion

Power Rangers: Heroes of the Grid is a fun cooperative game from Renegade Game Studios. There are plenty of expansions for the game already after being out for less than two years, and I’m here to help break down what some of them do.

Renegade was kind enough to send me the Zeo Ranger Pack which features the five core Rangers and their Zords. This team might be favorite. The common Power Pod Sword adds a die to any attack and allows the damage to be distributed.

Meanwhile, the Zeo Megazord which reduces the energy cost of cards which will really help the Rangers.

Let’s start with Kat Hillard, Zeo Ranger I Pink. Kat’s awesome power is that she can look at the top card of her deck and play it (spending any energy needed of course). This effectively extends her hand and can make her a bit more flexible. Certain cards also get bonus effects if played from the deck. This can also be used to keep Kat’s hand count low and her deck count high, providing her with more health. Zeo Zord I then allows other Rangers to look at their top cards and either draw them or leave them on top. This is a really cool mechanic.

Tanya Sloan, Zeo Ranger II Yellow, is next. I would say the theme for Tanya is maximizing potential. A lot of her cards have to do with rolling extra dice, but then not using some of them. While this means a lot of her raw output isn’t going to be great at a glance, being able to roll four dice and choose two is way better than merely rolling two and hoping for the best. Tanya’s ability adds an extra damage if one of your dice shows a double hit! Finally, Zeo Zord II allows any Ranger to add dice to an attack, but then they have to subtract dice as well.

Next is Rocky DeSantos or Zeo Ranger III Blue. His whole thing is putting energy tokens on enemy cards and then gaining boosts or other effects that target those tokens which you’ll then be able to claim and use for devastating attacks. Zeo Zord III allows Rangers to recover cards from their discards. I would chalk Rocky up to a support role, but a very valuable one.

Zeo Ranger IV Green is Adam Park who gains hit tokens whenever he takes damage. This is in addition to the damage. These tokens can then be used with your combat cards to add dice, gain energy, and more. Zeo Zord IV can be used to double the amount of damage an enemy card has already taken. Adam is definitely going to be a powerhouse for bringing foes down.

The famous Tommy Oliver leads the team as Zeo Ranger V Red. His cards have a special star icon with an effect that typically triggers when the card is revealed for defense but once per battle, he can just use one of the star abilities. These tend to be pretty powerful like adding dice, gaining energy, or recovering cards. Zeo Zord V helps gain energy and recover a card.
