Zoey Deutch Will "Get Famous or Lie Trying" in New Trailer for NOT OKAY
Searchlight Pictures has released a full trailer for Zoey Deutch’s new film Not Okay. The film tells a cautionary tale about social media fame and lying to get to the top. Deutch plays a character named Danni, who is looking to be "noticed so badly" that she turns to social media. As she struggles to attain the social media fame she seeks, she goes too far when she pretends to have survived a terrorist attack in Paris.
Deutch is a talented actress and it looks like she delivers a great performance in the movie playing the villain of the story that audiences are going to hate. The first teaser trailer for this film even came with the warning, “This film contains an unlikeable female protagonist.”
Here’s the synopsis for the film: “Danni Sanders (Deutch), an aimless aspiring writer with no friends, no romantic prospects and — worst of all — no followers, fakes an Instagram-friendly trip to Paris in the hopes of boosting her social media clout. When a terrifying incident strikes the City of Lights, Danni unwittingly falls into a lie bigger than she ever imagined. She ‘returns’ a hero, even striking up an unlikely friendship with Rowan (Mia Isaac), a school-shooting survivor dedicated to societal change, and scooping up the man of her dreams Colin (Dylan O'Brien). As an influencer and advocate, Danni finally has the life and audience she always wanted. But it’s only a matter of time before the facade cracks, and she learns the hard way that the Internet loves a takedown.”
The movie was written and directed by Quinn Shephard (Blame), and it’s set to be released on Hulu on July 29th, 2022.
