Zooey Deschanel Has Signed on to Star in Romantic Comedy Feature MERV for Amazon MGM Studios

Zooey Deschanel (500 Days of Summer, Elf, New Girl) has signed on to star in the romantic comedy feature Merv at Amazon MGM Studios.

Written by Linsey Stewart (Workin’ Moms, Suze) and Dane Clark (Mr. D, Suze), and directed by Jessica Swale (Summerland), the film (Merv is a working title) watches as an estranged couple learns that the dog they share is suffering from depression following their break-up, awkwardly reconciling over the holidays when they take their dog on a sunny vacation to Florida to lift his spirits.

Deschanel was most recently seen in the series Physical, the animated sequel Trolls Band Together, and this August, she will appear in the adaptation of the beloved children’s book, Harold and the Purple Crayon.
