Most audiences don't think twice about what sort of dramatic liberties filmmakers take with these kinds of stories — they think "based on a true story" means "this is how things happened." But discerning moviegoers (probably all of you who are reading this right now) know better than to take things completely at face value; there's always another side to the story that we don't get to see on the big screen.
