12 YEARS A SLAVE Actress Storm Reid Playing Meg in Ava DuVernay's A WRINKLE IN TIME
Disney's search is over for the actress who will play lead character Meg Murry in Ava DuVernay's upcoming film adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time. The studio sent out a press release announcing that 13-year-old Storm Reid has won the role, and DuVernay put out a statement:
"After an extensive search that spanned multiple dimensions, we're overjoyed to welcome Storm Reid to WRINKLE IN TIME as our beloved "Meg." Storm is a tremendously talented young actress who embodies the hopes, dreams and spirit of a character much loved by audiences worldwide for generations. I can't wait to work with Storm as we chronicle Meg's epic quest, alongside Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit and Mrs. Who. Tesser well!"
Reid appeared as Emily, a young girl ripped from her mother, in the harrowing 12 Years A Slave, and the press release says she's also appearing in actress Judy Greer's 2017 directorial debut A Happening of Monumental Proportions (a project I'd never heard of, but I'm glad Greer is taking charge behind the camera since she's been shafted in small roles so many times in front of it).
A Wrinkle in Time is about a young girl, her younger brother, and her friend who go on a search for her missing father, a government scientist who was working on a top secret project involving an inter-dimensional tesseract. Joining the girl on her journey are three supernatural beings: Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Whatsit.
