If you haven't heard Sam Raimi has been developing a TV series for Disney-ABC called 'Wizard's First Rule'. It is based on a book by Terry Goodkind called 'Wizard's First Rule' and his epic fantasy series 'The Sword of truth'. The show will have a fall launch with 22 episodes each will be an hour long. Hollywood Reporter tells us:
Craig Horner and Bridget Regan have been tapped to star in Sam Raimi's syndicated series "Wizard's First Rule," which launches in the fall.
Horner will star as woodsman Richard Cypher, who transforms into a magical leader and joins with a mysterious woman named Kahlan (Regan) to stop a bloodthirsty, sinister tyrant.
So there you have it. A new show from Sam Raimi about Wizard's. I had no idea what to think of this until I found this description from Amazon.
The protective barrier that separates Westland from its neighbors to the east is about to fall, letting loose a monstrous evil upon the world. Only the combined efforts of a young man dedicated to finding the truth, an enigmatic woman intent on concealing her past, and a crusty old hermit resigned to his inevitable destiny can prevent the opening of the three boxes of Orden-an event with the potential to destroy existence itself. The inclusion of graphic scenes of sado-eroticism, though integral to the story, may deter purchase by some libraries. Nevertheless, this first novel offers an intriguing variant on the standard fantasy quest. The richly detailed world and complex characters will appeal to mature fantasy aficionados.
If its done right this could be a pretty amazing and new kind of TV show. But because Disney is behind it I wonder if they are going to dumb it down for the audience which would ruin the experience and also really ruin it for the fans of the book. If they do it wrong they could loose allot of their audience. Any fans of the book out there want to rant on this? Give us your thoughts.
